Confessions from Scripture: Winning the Lost

The wise win souls: The fruit of my righteous living is a tree of life to everyone around me. Through applying the wisdom that God imparts to me, I am able to win souls. Proverbs 11:30

Following Jesus to become a fisher of men: Lord Jesus, according to your word, as I follow after you, you will make me a fisher of men.” Matthew 4:19

No speaking in persuasive words of human wisdom: My speech and my preaching are not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that the faith of my listeners wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:4, 5

Become all things to all men: For though I was free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. 1 Corinthians 9:19-22

Save a soul from death: If any among us wanders from the truth, and I turn him back, I know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19, 20

God’s desire: You God our Savior desire for all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3, 4

God gave his one and only Son: For you, O God, so loved the world, that you gave your one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For you didn’t send your Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. John 3:16, 17

The Father draws individuals to Christ: No one can come to you, Lord Jesus, unless the Father draws him, and you will raise him up in the last day. John 6:44

The laborers are few: The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore I ask you, Lord of the harvest, to send out more laborers into your field. Luke 10:2

The fields are already white for harvest: Like you Jesus, my food is to do your will, and to accomplish your work. I lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are already white for harvest. As I reap I receive wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together…You sent me to reap that for which I haven’t labored. Others have labored, and I have entered into their labor. John 4:34-36, 38

Received grace and apostleship: Through Christ and for his name’s sake I have received grace and apostleship, to advance the obedience of faith among all the nations. Romans 1:5

Not ashamed of the gospel: I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes. Romans 1:16

Go, and make disciples of all nations: Lord Jesus, all authority has been given to you in heaven and on earth. Therefore, according to your command, I go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things which you commanded us. And you are present with us always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20

To give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God: For I do not preach about myself, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and myself as an available servant for Jesus’ sake; seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in my heart, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:5, 6

Our sufficiency is from God: Such confidence I have through Christ toward God; not that I am sufficient of myself, to account anything as coming from myself; but my sufficiency is from God; who also made me sufficient as one who renders service of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

An ambassador on behalf of Christ: Because I am now in Christ, I am a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to me the ministry of reconciliation; namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning our trespasses against us, and having committed to me the word of reconciliation. I am therefore an ambassador on behalf of Christ, as though God is speaking to others by me. I implore those separated from God on behalf of Christ, to be reconciled to God. For Christ who knew no sin was made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

How will they hear: How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without someone like me to share the good news? And how will I share unless I am willing to be sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10: 14, 15

Lord, send me: Lord, when I hear your voice, asking, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” I will respond, “Here I am. Send me!”

Answering authorities: When I am brought before gatherings, rulers, and authorities, I will not be anxious about how or what I will answer, or about what I will say; for the Holy Spirit will teach me in that same hour what I must say.” Luke 12:11-12

Christ leads us in his triumph: Now thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads me in triumph, and reveals through me the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
