Confessions from Scripture: Walking in Holiness

Walking in the light: I walk in the light, as God is in the light, I have fellowship with my fellow Christians, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses me from all sin. 1 John 1:7

No habitual sin: I know that because I am born of God I do not habitually sin, therefore God keeps me, and the evil one cannot touch me. 1 John 5:18

Walking by the Spirit: Because I walk by the Spirit, I do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

The flesh crucified: Since I belong to Christ, I have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. Not only do I live by the Spirit, I also walk by the Spirit so I avoid become conceited, provoking others or envying others. Galatians 5:24-26

Shun sexual immorality: It is the will of God for me to be set apart for holy living, that I shun sexual immorality, that I know how to control my body in a holy and honorable way, not in the passion of lust, as those who don’t know God; thus, I do not take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6

Flee youthful lusts: I flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. I refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife. As the Lord’s servant I do not quarrel, but I am gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, in gentleness correcting those who are in opposition. 2 Timothy 2:22-25

A vessel for honor: Because I have cleansed myself from godless chatter, ungodliness and unrighteous, I am a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:21

Be holy: Father, just as you are holy, so I too shall be holy in all of my behavior. 1 Peter 1:15

Be cleansed from all defilement: Having therefore these promises that you will dwell in us and walk with us, I cleanse myself from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1

Called to a consecrated life: For God called me not for impurity, but live a consecrated life. 1 Thessalonians 4:7

Pure and undefiled religion: I demonstrate pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father by visiting the fatherless and widows in their trouble, and to keeping myself unpolluted by the world. James 1:27

A holy nation: I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that I may proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light: 1 Peter 2:9
