Confessions from Scripture: The Believer’s Authority

Authority over all the power of the enemy: I recognize that Christ has given us authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt us. Nevertheless, I don’t rejoice that the spirits are subject to us, but I rejoice that our names are written in heaven. Luke 10:19, 20

Seated in heavenly places: God has raised me up with Christ, and made me to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:6

Praises of God in my mouth and a two-edged sword in my hand: I let the high praises of God be in my mouth, and a two-edged sword in my hand; to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment. All his saints have this honor. Praise the Lord! Psalms 149:6-9

No weapon will prosper: No weapon formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue that rises against me in judgment I shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of The Lord, and their vindication will come from me, says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17

Weapons of warfare are not of the flesh: For though I walk in the flesh, I do not wage war according to the human methods; for the weapons of my warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
