Our Spiritual Keys

As followers of Christ we have access to all kinds of resources both spiritual and physical according to the promises of God. But how do we draw upon these resources? The keys to these resources are found in his word. What God has recorded in his word is authoritative. That means, we can have what God has promised based on the authority of his word. God is faithful and keeps his word. And the promises of the word are our keys to God’s blessings. It just like having a key ring with the keys to your home or to your car. These keys can unlock things in the natural world. Thus, when we make use of our spiritual keys by faith, we are able to draw on the resources that God has made available to us. But in order to utilize these keys we have to (1) be aware of them, (2) activate and receive them by faith and (3) and develop our understanding and our capacity to use them. So, for instance if I was in need of God’s peace I would need to be aware of the specific promises in God’s word about peace, I would need to receive those promises by faith and confess with my mouth that I have them and I would need to develop my capacity to experience God’s peace by resisting feelings of anxiety and negative circumstances that I was experiencing.

Thus, as we practice and discipline ourselves to utilize our spiritual keys we become stronger and more reliant on Lord. And the great thing about spiritual keys once we have made them an essential part of our lives then no one can take them away for us. Some one could take away our physical keys, but never our spiritual keys. There are ours to use forever!

So now as we read through God’s word we can discover the promises that God has given that we can add to our own ring of spiritual keys. Here are some examples:
