Our Source of Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;  who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Many are grieving after the recent shooting which took place at Fort Hood but we are not comfortless for our God promises comfort and consolation in times of distress and loss. He is the God of all comfort; there is not any burden of affliction or calamity that he can not lighten. He is our source for encouragement, hope and strength when all around is looks bleak. This comfort is available to us through Christ: God’s Anointed One and his anointing, the One who lives inside of those of us who have received his gift of eternal life and salvation by faith. And we also receive God’s comfort and consolation by faith. We have to take it for ourselves. So by faith we confess: Father, you are the God of all comfort. And right now I receive your comfort, encouragement and strength.
